We help clients improve living environments and health systems in low- and middle-income countries.
SICABO Consulting was established in 2018 to fill a gap in global health consulting: applying legal rigour and expertise to public health policy to address the most pressing issues in global health today.
Our work primarily focuses on the prevention of overweight & obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including the main NCD risk factors of unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol and tobacco. We also work on more overarching themes such as the relationship between public health and trade law, commercial determinants of health, and how to translate complex legal concepts into applicable tools for lay-people. Within these broad themes, we have developed expertise in more specialised areas such as the prevention of childhood obesity, protection of children against unhealthy food marketing, food labelling, fiscal policies to improve diets, trans fat elimination, sodium reduction, and tobacco plain packaging.
In addition, we have done work on road safety, universal health coverage (UHC), immunization policy, food safety and occupant health.
We deliver and support client projects with a global, regional or national scope and a focus on improving living environments and health systems in low- and middle-income countries.

SICABO Consulting was set up by Simone Bösch out of her passion for food policy and chronic disease prevention, and the conviction of the utility of law as a public health tool to bring about systems change.
Simone has sixteen years of experience in law, public health and consulting. She holds a Master of Public Health with a global health concentration from Harvard T.H. Chan University and a Master of Laws (JD equivalent) from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and is a bar-qualified attorney. Currently based in Zurich, Switzerland, she can be frequently found working from co-working spaces around the world.
